Pirate mixed media

Upon coloring this my 4 yr old asks me what I'm doing.  I show her the pirate I'm coloring and right off the bat she insists that this is going into her room.  So now I have to turn this image into a mixed media piece to be hung on her wall. Luckily I still have some shadow box frames left!

I first colored this digi stamp "pirate charlotte" with the intentions of making a card. But when my 4 year old asked what I was doing and I showed here the picture she demanded it be for her room.  Which mind you she doesn't sleep in yet! So turned this cute digi into a mixed media project for her wall.

This is a pretty wide box frame so I decided to make the ocean extend out to the floor of the frame.  The paper was perfect for the image wish I could tell you which designer paper it was but this was a piece of scrap I had left for a while now.

I sprayed the cheese cloth with my bobunny shimmer spray and hot glued some shell embellisments.  I also hot glued it to the inside of the frame. After that I created my treasure pile by just laying down a puddle of hot glue waiting for it to cool down and add more for more height.

As you can see here I painted my hot glue pile with DecoArt metallics gold paint. I then randomly went over spots with tombow aqua mono liquid glue and threw some seed beads on it.  I used foam pop dots to adhere my pirate. once my glue was dry I brushed off the excess beads.

And finally the inside is complete with the addition of some random jewels and shells. And no self respecting pirate treasure is complete without a skull!

And finally the finished product! I used a dark walnut stain on the out side of the frame.
Thanks for stopping bye!
